Lawsuit alleges Tennessee Aquarium discriminated against white people, non-profit sounds alarm

Updated: Oct 1

TAMPA, Fla. — Citizens Defending Freedom, a non-profit organization aimed at helping Americans defend their faith and freedom, condemned the Tennessee Aquarium after a lawsuit alleged that three applicants for a job opening were denied the position because they were white.

According to multiple press reports, the Tennessee Aquarium posted the following in its job application for a Community Engagement Director role in 2021:

“Applicants must be of minority group that would include but is not limited to: African American or Black, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Asian American or Asian, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic or Latino, and applicants who consider themselves to be of more than one race."

The lawsuit claims that the Tennessee Aquarium removed the job description after the position was filled, and that an African American applicant was hired to fill the position.

The plaintiffs are suing for compensation for lost wages, along with “emotional distress, humiliation, mental anguish, embarrassment, pain and suffering and other non-pecuniary losses.”

“If the allegations in this lawsuit are true, Citizens Defending Freedom completely and totally condemns the Tennessee Aquarium for its alleged anti-white discrimination,” said James Judge, the national spokesman for Citizens Defending Freedom. “In the name of ‘tolerance’ and ‘inclusivity,’ we’re beginning to see more instances of woke businesses openly peddling anti-white bigotry. Some of these entities are attempting to take us back to segregation, and we can’t let that happen. Racism in all forms, including racism against white people is wholly unacceptable.”

Judge says that anti-white racism is becoming a broader issue in American politics. He referenced President Joe Biden’s “American Rescue Plan,” which specifically provides government funding for African American farm owners, but not their white counterparts. It does the same for African American and female-owned restaurants, while ignoring restaurants owned by white Americans.

“I don’t want to live in a country where discrimination against anyone is an acceptable practice,” said Judge. “We were relieved when America worked to move past racism decades ago. It is disheartening to see that we’re returning to these regressive and unfair policies, this time against white Americans. The bottom line is that as Americans, we believe that all people are created in the image of God, and we’re called to treat everyone equally, regardless of their skin color and whether they’re male or female.”

Founded in 2021, Citizens Defending Freedom is a non-profit organization that strategically employs county-level chapters across America to help citizens defend their faith and freedom, all while fighting for transparency in local government. Currently, Citizens Defending Freedom has official chapters in Florida, Georgia and Texas. The group is rapidly expanding its footprint, and expects to grow into one of America’s largest political nonprofits. Click here to learn more about Citizens Defending Freedom.
