Miami-Dade County CDF EXPOSES ACTIVIST AGENDAS IN LOCAL TEACHERS UNION

Updated: Sep 24

Miami-Dade County, FL - For decades, two of the largest national teachers’ unions, The National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) have worked relentlessly to silence the voices of teachers nationwide who want to protect children and parental rights, who support scientific truth, and want to preserve American history, morals, and values. The NEA and AFT have been complicit in the erosion of our education system, the perpetuation of division, and the radicalization of our Nation’s children.

Recently, Miami-Dade County Citizens Defending Freedom exposed the political activism that their local teachers’ union and their local Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has been engaging in. The United Teachers of Dade (UTD) is an affiliate of the AFT and is one of the largest and most influential teachers’ unions in the United States. Their social media accounts are brimming with evidence of their social justice and political activism, with posts ranging from supporting Black Lives Matter and abortion, to calling on teenagers to “pay close attention” to the obscene books being removed from school library shelves and encouraging them to “beeline” to obtain and read those books.

In August 2022, U.S. Representative Charlie Crist received a $500,000 donation from the AFT to help him defeat Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida’s mid-term elections. This marks the largest check Crist received in this election cycle, according to the Florida Department of State’s Division of Elections. Two weeks later, Crist announced that Karla Hernandez-Mats, AFT Vice President and President of the UTD, would be his running mate. Hernandez-Mats has a history of promoting Critical Race Theory and antiracist trainings, defunding the police, and she supports sexualized curriculum in grades K-3. Additionally, she has compared concerned parents at school board meetings to fictional serial killers and ardently opposed the Parental Rights in Education bill.

The exposure of indoctrination and corruption by teachers’ unions nationwide is sparking a wave of parents seeking alternative educational choices and teachers canceling their memberships. If a union’s membership falls below 50% of a school districts employee numbers, this can lead to union decertification.

We applaud Miami-Dade’s commitment to shining the light and exposing the activism that has infiltrated their community’s schools in an attempt to indoctrinate their children to serve a radical agenda under the guise of “social justice”.
